\u201cSNL\u201d returned to the air for the 14th episode of its 51st season on Saturday, March 7, with Ryan Gosling as host and Gorillaz as musical guest.<\/p>\n

Gosling was hosting \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d for the fourth time \u2014 not the fifth, as his promo earlier in the week humorously suggested.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Despite not quite being part of the five-timers club yet, Gosling is a capable veteran host, responsible for beloved pre-tapes like \u201cPapyrus\u201d and break-filled live sketches like \u201cBeavis & Butthead\u201d and \u201cAlien Encounter\u201d with Kate McKinnon. <\/p>\n

True to form, Gosling delivered an excellent pre-tape early in the episode (\u201cOtezla\u201c) and a sketch nearly derailed by laughter from cast member Ashley Padilla (\u201cPassing Notes\u201c).<\/p>\n

Fans also got a sneak preview of next week\u2019s episode of \u201cSNL,\u201d which will feature pop star Harry Styles pulling double duty as host and musical guest. The former One Direction singer was in the audience for Gosling\u2019s opening monologue, leading the \u201cBarbie\u201d star to feel a bit upstaged.<\/p>\n
