Luke Kornet\u2019s recent blog post aiming to \u201cprotect and esteem women\u201d seemingly glossed over one key component: a woman\u2019s perspective.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Former ESPN star Michelle Beadle offered a scathing review of the San Antonio 7-footer\u2019s viral entry on Medium, which lobbied for the cancellation of the Atlanta Hawks\u2019 upcoming \u201cMagic City Monday\u201d promotion, celebrating the city\u2019s famous adult entertainment club of the same name.<\/p>\n

The event, scheduled for March 16 against the Orlando Magic, will feature in-house merchandise, Magic City\u2019s signature lemon pepper wings and a halftime performance from Atlanta hip-hop legend T.I.<\/p>\n

During a recent episode of \u201cBeadle & Decker,\u201d the sports reporter lambasted the \u201cWhite Knight\u201d not only for misrepresenting what has been deemed an \u201ciconic cultural institution,\u201d but for attempting to save women from what declared would displease them.<\/p>\n

She also underscored that he plays neither for the Hawks nor the Magic.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a woman, I am not offended by the idea of Magic Monday,\u201d Beadle said. \u201cI cannot say this enough, Magic City, for anyone who\u2019s been to Atlanta, it\u2019s not just a t\u2013ty bar. I feel like that\u2019s sort of the vibes that maybe people are getting.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecondly, and more importantly is, thank you, White Knight,\u201d she added. \u201cWe don\u2019t need this. I\u2019ve had enough of men telling us what we can and shouldn\u2019t and what we should want and what we should need and how we should act. No. No, no, these are not trafficked 12-year-olds, okay? We have that, and none of those people are being brought forward. This is not that. These are grown ass women who have a job. I don\u2019t understand, are you shaming that industry as part of this blog? I can\u2019t really understand the motivation. And most importantly, that\u2019s not even a Spurs game, bruh. That\u2019s Magic-Hawks. It has nothing to do with you, and he\u2019s got like a petition. He actually wants people to sign on, and I\u2019m just, I\u2019m a little confused by it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Albeit divisive, the Hawks\u2019 promotion honoring the well-known strip club isn\u2019t entirely out of left field.<\/p>\n

Just last summer, Hawks co-owner, actress, and film producer Jami Gertz produced a five-part docuseries commemorating Magic City\u2019s 40th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The NBA seemingly has no issue with the collaboration.<\/p>\n

But Kornet, 30, urged league brass to rethink its stance in his blog post, claiming that allowing the themed night to go forward would make the NBA community \u201ccomplicit in the potential objectification and mistreatment of women in our society.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kornet added that he and \u201cothers throughout the league\u201d were surprised by and object to the Hawks\u2019 celebration of a strip club, and he rallied others to join his appeal to \u201censure that the NBA remains a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for everyone involved.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
