Ryan Gosling<\/strong> has crazy, stupid love for Harry Styles<\/strong>\u2014kind of.<\/p>\n As the La La Land <\/em>actor took the 8H stage to deliver his opening monologue for the Mar. 7 episode of Saturday Night Live<\/em>\u2014which he hosted alongside musical guest Gorillaz<\/strong>\u2014the \u201cWatermelon Sugar\u201d hitmaker stole the show with a surprise appearance in the crowd.<\/p>\n Shortly after Ryan, 45, began his monologue, he stopped dead in his tracks, asking, \u201cIs that Harry Styles?\u201d<\/p>\n The camera then panned to the Grammy winner as the show\u2019s live audience erupted with applause. Looking just as stunned as the crowd, Ryan added, \u201cWhat are you doing here, man?\u201d to which Harry, 32, replied, \u201cWell, I\u2019m hosting next week and it\u2019s been a while, so I just wanted to watch, get a feel for it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYeah, that\u2019s so professional, that\u2019s awesome you\u2019re here,\u201d Ryan said nervously. \u201cI just wish someone would have told me\u2014welcome.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI have a new movie coming out, it\u2019s called Project Harry Styles<\/em>,\u201d Ryan added before quickly correcting himself. \u201cNope, it\u2019d be a good movie, though. It\u2019s called Project Hail Mary<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n READ<\/b> Why Harry Styles Fans Think New Song References Olivia Wilde Breakup <\/p>\n After noting that the film is \u201clike E.T.<\/em> meets Interstellar,\u201d <\/em>he went into a heartfelt monologue accompanied by piano music about the human existence on \u201cthe pale blue dot\u201d that is Earth. As his speech continued, the camera panned back to the One Direction<\/strong> alum who nodded in agreement with Ryan\u2019s words.<\/p>\n Pausing his speech abruptly, Ryan\u2014who shares daughters Esmeralda<\/strong>, 11, and Amada<\/strong>, 9, with wife Eva Mendes<\/strong>\u2014wondered why his airtime was cut short. As he quipped, \u201cI\u2019m sorry, why are we on Harry\u2019s Styles?\u201d to which the \u201cAperture\u201d singer responded, \u201cI don\u2019t know, I\u2019m just listening.\u201d<\/p>\n In an effort to regain the spotlight, The Notebook actor<\/em> joked, \u201cWell, could you listen less cool? I think your coolness is becoming a bit of an issue.\u201d<\/p>\n After Ryan picked up where he left off in his speech, the camera angle went into a split screen of him and Harry.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat\u2019s going on?\u201d Ryan interjected again. \u201cI\u2019m just trying to understand why we\u2019d be in a split screen. Come on, guys. Let\u2019s get rid of the split screen.\u201d<\/p>\n In perfect timing, the camera effects swiped Ryan out of frame, allowing only Harry to remain on-camera as the audience laughed.<\/p>\n \u201cNo, not like that,\u201d the Barbie <\/em>star added. \u201cYou know what I meant. Come on, what\u2019s going on with camera 2.\u201d<\/p>\n Clearly, the SNL <\/em>crew is full of Harry Styles fans as a cameraman came into frame wearing an \u201cI heart Harry\u201d sweatshirt.<\/p>\n \u201cLook, we all heart Harry, okay?\u201d Ryan said before giving up on his heartfelt speech for good, asking stage crew to remove his prop. \u201cJust get this stupid Earth out of here.
