Steve Carell<\/strong> wasn\u2019t always crazy about Crazy, Stupid, Love<\/em>\u2014as a movie title, that is.<\/p>\n The 40-Year-Old Virgin<\/em> star admitted he initially wasn\u2019t fond of the title given to the 2011 romantic comedy\u2014in which he starred alongside Ryan Gosling<\/strong>, Julianne Moore <\/strong>and Emma Stone<\/strong>\u2014revealing that coming up with a name for the project was an unexpectedly daunting task.<\/p>\n \u201cI never liked that title,\u201d he told Entertainment Tonight<\/em> in an interview published March 4. \u201cI do now, but when Dan Fogelman<\/strong> wrote it, he didn’t title it. He didn’t call it anything. It was Untitled Dan Fogelman Project<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n While Steve, 63, recalled that \u201ceverybody had an idea as to what the title should be,\u201d none of the suggestions seemed to capture the theme of the film, resulting in the studio stepping in to lock in a name before its theatrical release.<\/p>\n \u201cFinally, Warner Bros. just said, \u2018We\u2019re calling it Crazy, Stupid, Love<\/em>,\u2019\u201d he continued, noting that his response was an underwhelmed, \u201cAlright.\u201d<\/p>\n READ<\/b> Harry Styles Jokingly Upstages Ryan Gosling During Surprise SNL <\/em>Cameo <\/p>\n Fortunately, the movie went on to be a critical and commercial hit, which proved to Steve that its title wasn\u2019t necessarily the key to its success.<\/p>\n \u201cI’m convinced that if it’s good and people like it, people will like the title,\u201d he shared. \u201cDoesn’t even matter what you call it.\u201d<\/p>\n Of course, Steve has taken on plenty of fan favorite roles over the years, perhaps none more celebrated than his portrayal of Michael Scott on The Office<\/em>. In fact, the actor still finds himself stunned by the NBC comedy\u2019s wide-ranging fan base, especially its younger viewers.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it\u2019s funny how young people are when they first start watching The Office<\/em>,\u201d he told NBC Insider<\/em> in June 2024, \u201cwhich was always a surprise to me because I never thought it would be appealing to a younger audience.\u201d<\/p>\n However, Steve eventually realized that the show\u2019s quirky characters didn\u2019t just mirror viewers\u2019 experiences in the workplace.<\/p>\n \u201cI think part of it is that each of the characters is an archetype that can be translated to people that they know in school,\u201d he explained. \u201cThey’re all people that you can identify with\u2014whether you’ve ever worked in an office or whether you’ve just associated with these people in school.\u201d<\/p>\n To see what the rest of The Office<\/em>\u2019s cast has been up to since the series wrapped in 2013, keep reading\u2026<\/p>\n PHOTOS<\/b> Mindy Kaling, B.
