John Tesh has outlived his prognosis by nearly eight years after doctors told him in 2015 he had only 18 months to live, Page Six reports.<\/p>\n
The former \u201cEntertainment Tonight\u201d co-host told reporters in a recent interview that he continues to battle a rare form of metastatic prostate cancer through an unconventional treatment approach.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve been fighting cancer successfully, still fighting it. It\u2019s still under treatment, on and off,\u201d Tesh said.<\/p>\n
His medical team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston uses a \u201cpulsing\u201d method that alternates between active treatment and allowing the cancer to grow slightly before resuming therapy, he added. Tesh is considered stable rather than in remission.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey will let it grow for a little bit, and then get me back on treatment, back and forth,\u201d Tesh explained. \u201cIt\u2019s scary until you get used to it because it\u2019s like, \u2018why am I living with cancer?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Tesh attributed his survival to three factors: his medical team, his wife of 34 years Connie Sellecca, and his Christian faith.<\/p>\n
\u201cWithout my wife Connie, who has been my advocate over the years, I wouldn\u2019t be talking,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019d be dead. I would have been dead in 2015.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 72-year-old said biblical passages about healing have been significant to his journey, particularly Mark 11:23, which he has tattooed on his arm.<\/p>\n
Tesh left television hosting in 1996 to pursue music full time. He recently performed his NBA on NBC theme song \u201cRoundball Rock\u201d at the All-Star Game and continues hosting \u201cIntelligence for Your Life,\u201d a radio program broadcast on 350 stations.<\/p>\n
