Texas Original-the company behind the state’s largest medical cannabis facility-is expanding its footprint with five new locations across the Lone Star State.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While recreational marijuana is still illegal in Texas, medical marijuana use is on the rise. To meet the state’s growing demand, Texas Original has opened two new satellite locations and three new pick-up sites.<\/p>\n
Two new satellite locations-one at 601 W. 15th St. in Plano and another at 1464 Austin Hwy in San Antonio-allow for same-day pick-up and flexible access, according to a recent news release from the company. At these facilities, cannabis can be stored securely onsite. Texas Original currently operates a satellite location from the Houston Heights neighborhood at 1714 Houston Ave.<\/p>\n
In addition, the medical cannabis provider has opened three new pickup locations at 421 Frankford Ave in Lubbock, \u00a01320 N University Dr in Nacogdoches and 11980 Hwy 64 E in Tyler. Pick-up facilities require same-day cannabis transport from a central facility, rather than allowing for overnight storage onsite.<\/p>\n
“Strengthening access to safe, reliable medical marijuana remains our driving mission,” Texas Original CEO\u00a0Nico Richardson said. “These new locations allow more Texans to receive their medicine locally, reflecting our commitment to serving patients in every corner of the state.”<\/p>\n
The expansion follows the passing of House Bill 46, which became effective in September. The bill legalized Department of Public Safety (DPS)-approved satellite locations, broadened the forms of cannabis patients can use and added more qualifying conditions and improved access to dispensaries under the Texas Compassionate Use Program.<\/p>\n
The Compassionate Use Program was first signed into law in 2015, allowing licensed dispensaries to grow, process and sell low-THC products to patients suffering from intractable epilepsy.<\/p>\n
As of February 2026, 141,987 people were listed on the Compassionate Use Registry-about a seven-percent increase from November 2025, as recorded by DPS.<\/p>\n
Texas Original is the leading medical cannabis provider in the state. With the five-location expansion, the company operates four satellite and 14 pickup sites statewide. Additional location openings are planned this year as the company continues to expand.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“The company also recently introduced Texas’s first medical cannabis concentrate products, including an oral RSO syringe and an oral distillate syringe, expanding access to treatment options to meet critical patient needs,” according to the release.<\/p>\n
