{"id":1571,"date":"2026-03-09T02:54:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T02:54:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/parkmania.pl\/?p=1571"},"modified":"2026-03-09T02:54:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T02:54:10","slug":"disappointing-hawaiian-music-artists-sound-off-after-being-stiffed-thousands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/parkmania.pl\/?p=1571","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Disappointing&#8217;: Hawaiian music artists sound off after being stiffed thousands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; Well-known Hawaii recording artists say a concert promoter has not paid them tens of thousands of dollars for multiple shows in Japan. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Grammy-nominated musician Weldon Kekauoha said the promoter, Masa Honda, owes him about $60,000 after performing at 11 events over the past month and a half. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Kekauoha has been working with Honda for more than 15 years. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cYou know how we are in Hawaii. We consider things we, people we work with, not only as business people, but, you know, you share time and then you feel like family. That\u2019s just how it is in Hawaii. So it is disappointing,\u201d Kekauoha said. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The last and largest concert of the tour, with an audience of about 500, was canceled on Saturday. Kekauoah and the other performers addressed the hundreds in attendance about why they were canceling. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cIt became an issue of \u2018how do we not disappoint our fans?\u2019\u201d Kekauoha added. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t change my attitude towards doing business here in Japan. It still is a great place. The people are wonderful. There are funny people everywhere you go.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img data-document-id=\"cms\/api\/amp\/video\/AA1XNcK6\" data-reference=\"video\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Kekauoha is now seeking legal help and said Honda has \u201cbeen going dark a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Grammy-nominated Hawaiian music star Natalie Ai Kamauu and Grammy winner Kalani Pea were also not compensated. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The incident had the award-winning Hawaiian music group Na Hoa cancel their scheduled shows with Honda. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWe didn\u2019t want false advertisement that we were coming and then this person to get away with that because we did get receive messages that people have already bought tickets for that November show. Just to stand in solidarity,\u201d said Na Hoa member Ikaika Blackburn. <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cWe are all just kind of a little bit saddened, but, you know, we\u2019ll still do what we do,\u201d Kekauoha said. \u201cIt\u2019s kind of our love for, you know, this part of our culture, the music and the dance, is going to be with us all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Hawaii News Now reached out to Honda, and we\u2019re waiting to hear back.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) &#8211; Well-known Hawaii recording artists say a concert promoter has not paid them tens of thousands of dollars for multiple shows in Japan.
