Kai Trump\u2019s latest YouTube vlog caught backlash on March 8 after the influencer joked about “going bankrupt” while loading her cart at the upscale Los Angeles supermarket, Erewhon.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old granddaughter of President Donald Trump gave her followers a look into what it’s like shopping at the pricey chain as she spent time in California.<\/p>\n

Inside the organic grocery chain, Kai sampled the store\u2019s $22 Hailey Bieber-inspired strawberry smoothie and bought a $128 Erewhon sweatshirt. “I\u2019m like about to go bankrupt with this stuff,” she said, laughing at the camera. Moments later, she doubled down, adding, “I\u2019m gonna have to file for bankruptcy.” During the outing, Kai spent over $233. It comes after Kai ‘almost passed out’ during an alarming experience.<\/p>\n

Fans immediately called her out for being “tone deaf,” especially as she labeled the video, “I Brought My Secret Service to Erewhon.”<\/p>\n

“Title might be the most tone deaf thing I’ve ever read. Like legit lmao,” one person commented on YouTube, while another wrote, “thanks for showing us the grocery store none of us will ever shop at.”<\/p>\n

Over on X, a different person said, “I have to believe she\u2019s rage baiting,” before labeling the segment “disgusting” and “scene-causing.” Another commenter added, “She\u2019s been rich all her life. She doesn\u2019t know anything outside of disgusting wealth.”<\/p>\n

On the opposite end, some viewers defended Kai, and claimed, “For coming from such a wealthy background, she is very grounded.”<\/p>\n

Another thanked her for “sharing your shopping experience in Erewhon” and wished her well.<\/p>\n

Kai also faced criticism a few days ago online after posting a short selfie video filmed near military aircrafts.<\/p>\n

In the TikTok video, which appears to have since been deleted, Kai walks toward the camera on an airport runway at sunset while filming herself; in the background, a large aircraft and several military helicopters can be seen.<\/p>\n

Some critics said the video looked insensitive, given the current tensions involving the United States and Iran.<\/p>\n

One user wrote on X, “Kai Trump posted a selfie video, but people quickly noticed what was happening behind her. Multiple U.S. military helicopters parked in the background. The clip is spreading online as viewers point out the timing. Her grandfather is the President of the United States, and the country is currently at war with Iran. Is taking selfies in front of war machines a bad look\u2026 or are people overreacting?”<\/p>\n

Others posted harsh comments as the video went viral.<\/p>\n

“This is so entitled,” one critic wrote, while another commenter added, “Too bad she’s immune from ever being drafted…”<\/p>\n
