LAGRANGE, Ga. (WRDW\/WAGT) – A LaGrange singer and American Idol contestant is taking the national stage by storm \u2014 and Saturday night, he brought that star power right back home.<\/p>\n
American Idol top 30 contestant Philmon Lee performed in front of a sold-out crowd Saturday, March 7. And for many fans and family, this concert isn\u2019t just about the music \u2014 it\u2019s about cheering on one of their own.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt feels really good that God gave me the opportunity to be where I am now – in the top 30,\u201d Philmon Lee said.<\/p>\n
LaGrange native and now American Idol top 30 contestant Philmon Lee has been singing his whole life \u2014 but Saturday felt different. He brought his talents where it all started after getting his golden ticket.<\/p>\n
\u201cGod\u2019s given me the key in the door and to open it up and try my best shot you know, and I haven\u2019t even wanted it yet, but I mean I feel like I\u2019ve won. You know what I mean. I just sold out my local theater.\u201d<\/p>\n
Inside the Royal Theatre, it was clear \u2014 this town is all in for one of their own.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy whole family has known his family since he was little bitty. We\u2019re so proud of him, so proud of him, he\u2019s got an amazing voice,\u201d said one attendee.<\/p>\n
His little sister, Shelby Thompson, knows firsthand how hard her brother has worked to get here<\/p>\n
\u201cI grew up with him as my best friend, and it was constantly singing around the house like that\u2019s all you ever heard,\u201d his sister said. \u201cIf you ever walk in our house, it was always him singing or listening to music or him and my dad singing or then playing the guitar or anything like that.\u201d<\/p>\n
From singing around the house to selling out the Royal Theatre, Lee is proving that dreams have a way of coming true.<\/p>\n
