Arnold Schwarzenegger says discussions are underway about several potential film projects that could see him return to some of his most recognizable roles.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, the actor indicated that conversations have taken place about a possible return to the Predator<\/em> franchise, along with potential sequels tied to two of his other action films.<\/p>\n According to remarks shared during the event, Schwarzenegger said director Dan Trachtenberg has expressed interest in bringing him back for a future installment of the Predator<\/em> series.<\/p>\n \u201cThey did another Predator<\/em> and the director, Dan Trachtenberg, has been knocking it out of the park,\u201d Schwarzenegger said. \u201cNow he wants me for the next one. We\u2019ve been talking.\u201d<\/p>\n Trachtenberg has directed several recent entries connected to the franchise, including projects that expanded the series\u2019 storyline beyond the original films. Schwarzenegger first appeared as Dutch in the original Predator<\/em> released in 1987.<\/p>\n Schwarzenegger also said a potential sequel to the 1985 film Commando<\/em> has been discussed.<\/p>\n \u201cFox Studios has kind of rediscovered Arnold,\u201d he said during the festival. \u201cThey approached me saying, \u2018We want you for Predator<\/em>, and we\u2019ve got a Commando 2<\/em> script ready to go.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Commando<\/em> followed Schwarzenegger\u2019s character John Matrix, a retired special forces soldier who attempts to rescue his kidnapped daughter. The film became one of the actor\u2019s early action successes and has maintained a following decades after its release.<\/p>\n In addition to those projects, Schwarzenegger referenced renewed interest in a possible return to the Conan the Barbarian<\/em> franchise.<\/p>\n The actor portrayed Conan in the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian<\/em> and its 1984 sequel Conan the Destroyer<\/em>. Plans for additional installments have circulated for years but have not moved forward.<\/p>\n During the festival discussion, Schwarzenegger said there are talks about a film sometimes referred to as King Conan<\/em>, which would depict an older version of the character.<\/p>\n \u201cThey brought on a powerhouse writer-director,\u201d he said, referring to filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie. \u201cThey\u2019re crafting the role to fit my age.\u201d<\/p>\n Schwarzenegger has continued to appear in film and television projects in recent years, including the Netflix action series FUBAR<\/em>.
